Important information you should read before attending Kako Chocolate School is here.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring an apron to chocolate school if you are able. You should also bring a pen if you wish to take notes on the course material/recipe book which is handed out. You should also bring a container for taking home your chocolates (does not apply to tempering masterclass).
What should I wear?
Because chocolate needs to be kept at a steady temperature, our chocolate school is kept at between 18 – 20 degrees and 50% humidity 24/7. As such, we recommend you wear comfortable but warm clothing.
You should not have flowing sleeves, or loose clothing that can drag in the chocolate. We also recommend you bring an apron. Footwear must be fully enclosed.
Are there special Footwear requirements?
Yes – You must not wear heavy boots in the chocolate school, including steel caps, or high heels! If you do have unsuitable footwear, you may be excluded from the class. Wear comfortable, fully closed shoes with standard soles. OPEN FOOTWEAR is a danger, so please wear fully closed in shoes.
Do I get Course Material including Recipes, to take away?
Yes, you get a course book which will include any recipes made during the class. This has room for you to take additional notes as well, and is yours to take away after the class.
How do I get to the School?
Our chocolate school is located at 161 Apirana Avenue, Glen Innes. The building has plenty of signage! A map to the school is here
Is there parking at the School?
There is limited parking available on-site for up to 8 vehicles, but plenty of parking nearby. Because our classes are run at the weekend, there may be other parking spaces available to you at the rear of our building. We will let you know if you park somewhere you should not!
Is there Public Transport near the School?
Yes, the Glen Innes train stop is just a few hundred meters down the road. There are also plenty of bus services to Apirana Avenue and Glen Innes.
Is there any age limit or restriction at the School?
Yes, you must be at least 15 years of age to attend our chocolate school. Children learn differently from adults and often have a different maturity level. This is professional training designed for adults.
I booked in via the website – what happens now?
You will receive a confirmation receipt from the website immediately after you purchase. You will receive a REMINDER email on the Thursday immediately before your class date. This will remind you of what to bring, how to find us, etc.
What if I have special dietary requirements for a class that includes lunch?
If you are attending a full day class that includes a light lunch, you will need to email us if you have any special dietary requirements. We endeavour to cater to everyone, but cannot always guarantee we can. But we will let you know! Vegetarian options are always provided as standard.
